I paint from life. Most of my paintings are made with a model or models. My artistic training encouraged working from life. I very much enjoy the relationship between artist and model. I also believe that painting from life offers much more in the way of information regarding line, tonality and color.

The same can be said for my still lives. I spend a lot of time searching for the right item for each set up. Then, I sit down and do my utmost to translate the three dimensional still life into a two dimensional painting.

I think a lot of my work, if successful, has a psychological dimension underlying the visual.

I look to the old masters, impressionists and post impressionists for inspiration. I still believe artists such as Rembrandt came closest to portraying what’s at the soul of Art.
